  Ranakpur
It is one of most significant Jain pilgrimage destinations in the country. Situated amidst the Aravalli ranges of Rajasthan, Ranakpur features a group of Jain temples whose history can be traced back to the 15th century. These architectural masterpieces were constructed during the reign of Rana Kumbha, a great admirer of art and architecture. Besides being architecturally brilliant, the Jain temples of Ranakpur are also known to be the most complex in India. It is interesting to note that these temples took over 50 years to complete. If you are a lover of art and a history buff, you will highly rate a sightseeing tour of Ranakpur Jain temples in Rajasthan.

Best Time to Visit
It would be best to make a visit to these Jain temples between the months of September and March.

Mythological Background
Monarch Rana Kumbh contributed hugely towards building these groups of temples. Dhanna Shah had a dream of constructing these Jain temples. In order to make Dhanna Shah’s dream come true, Rana Kumbha, the ruler of Mewar, donated a huge expanse of land for the construction of Jain temples. The exact date when the Ranakpur Jain temples were set up is shrouded in mystery.  However, historians believe that the temples were constructed anywhere during the 14th-15th century. Deepaka is believed to be the master architect who designed the structure of the temples.
